Special Soap Dish!!

by | Apr 25, 2023 | Uncategorized

Hello everyone…  March was TBI awareness month, and I wanted to introduce a very special dish that made me think about my own TBI… As with brain injury sometimes things take us longer… So here goes!!

One day I was working with my gray soap dish clay. I had scraps left over and I mix some of it with Moses’s White clay. I fell in love with the marbled look, not blended mind you but smashed and pressed together in a very unique way. I loved that it was uncontrollable and unpredictable. The results are always different. It’s a surprise when it’s finished to see the gorgeous patterning that the little bits of the old clay make.

What You have to understand is…. It’s a process and when you understand that. It is easier to not give up and press on, to keep going to see what a beautiful surprise will be at the end of the process.

As I am smashing and pressing this clay together, I was reminded of how much my life changed as a result of my brain tumor diagnosis and after waking up from the craniotomy…  bits and pieces of the old me were woven into my new reality of me. I had to learn to trust the process of healing, relearning, and living.

It’s a lot more work to make a marbled clay dish, extra steps, and some Care is needed, just like rebuilding and relearning after any type of Brain trauma or injury, Sometimes we take more time and a few extra steps to create or just go through daily life. So just as I can’t predict or know for 100%, how this dish will turn out.

I can trust the process because I know and understand it.

Life, clay, and soap dish making is a process, and when I don’t give up, put in the extra time, and go through the extra steps … I will be happily surprised with my results. I can press in on the clay… trusting in the process cuz I know my clay is in good hands and  I understand the process.

So just like in my life and working with the clay, I had to learn… to trust the process. I also had to learn to trust the Creator’s process of Healing and Recovery cuz just like this (clay) I am clay and I’m in the good hands of my Creator the ultimate Potter.

Look at these dishes, that have 100% completed the process.

Look how truly beautiful the old gray becomes when contrasted with the new white clay and of course, they’re stamped with my favorite flower and one of my favorite quotes – she believes she could so she did. For me that is truly based on my ultimate belief in the God of Jeremiah 29:11…   for I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope in the future.

“She believed” is rooted in the promise He has a plan for me. And I can Trust his process because I am in His good hands. Just as each person is different and our experiences and beliefs may be different… When we can understand that life, clay, healing, and recovery are a process;  it is much easier to press on and see the overall beauty in the end.

Making these dishes was a true encouragement to me…cuz I have not arrived yet, but I am willing to trust the process and keep going… believing that there will be beauty in the end. Even if I missed my March soap dish goal, the beautiful soap dishes are ready.

So if you want one of these dishes or know someone who would appreciate a thoughtful gift of encouragement… check them out at Muddy Moses and Mom  See the Dishes!   Thank you all for your time. I appreciate you and your time very much.  Love to All, Miss Jenny!
